Do you have a damaged tooth that seems broken beyond repair? Or perhaps your tooth is missing altogether? While it may seem like your smile will never be whole again, that is not the case.
Stoneycreek Village Dental in Fort McMurray, Alberta, offers dental crown services, offering a neat and complete restoration for damaged teeth. With natural-looking porcelain teeth caps, Drs. Yohannes Melkie, Ji Won Choi, and Cristina Rodrigo not only restore your tooth but also cosmetically improve it to look like your natural teeth, if not better!
Do you have a damaged or decayed tooth that is letting down the rest of your smile? We can restore it to full function and form with a dental crown. A dental crown is a tooth-shaped cap that offers a beautiful cover, fitting snugly over the afflicted tooth.
Dental crowns may be tiny, but they have numerous uses in dentistry. Some reasons you may need a dental crown include:
Our porcelain dental crowns are custom-fitted to fit the specific dimensions of your tooth for a comfortable and natural-looking appearance. Once we crown your tooth, it will look and feel natural, like your own teeth.
Restoring your smile with a dental crown involves at least two appointments. During the first consultation, we’ll use digital X-rays to ensure the internal structure of the afflicted tooth is intact and no infection is present. Once we inspect your tooth, the next step is to prepare your tooth for crown placement.
After anesthetizing your gums, we’ll remove a layer of the tooth enamel to accommodate your crown but leave a strong core. Next, we take digital impressions of your tooth and send the images to our partner lab to create your bespoke crown.
Since your crown takes a few days to complete, we’ll restore your prepped tooth temporarily until the final restoration is created. When your crown is ready, you’ll return to our office, and we’ll remove the temporary one and try the fit of the new one. We’ll make a few adjustments to ensure your crown looks and fits naturally before cementing it on your tooth using strong dental adhesive.
Provided you take optimal care of your porcelain crown, you can trust it to last 10-plus years. Although a dental crown can’t develop tooth decay, the tooth underneath can, and the surrounding gums are susceptible to gum disease.
Take care of your crown by observing the tips below.
